CELL ORGANELLES

Cell organelles are specialized structures within eukaryotic cells, each with specific functions. Here’s a short and brief note on some important cell organelles:

  1. Mitochondria: The “powerhouses” that produce energy (ATP) through cellular respiration.
  2. Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): Involved in protein and lipid synthesis.
  3. Golgi Apparatus: Modifies, processes, and packages proteins and lipids.
  4. Ribosomes: Sites of protein synthesis where amino acids are linked to form proteins.
  5. Lysosomes: Contain enzymes for intracellular digestion and waste removal.
  6. Vacuoles (in plant cells): Store water, nutrients, and other substances.
  7. Plastid: Contains chlorophyll for photosynthesis, converting sunlight into energy.
  8. Cytoskeleton: Provides structural support and facilitates cell movement.
